Shtip is a city—where the books were printed. "2-РИ АВГУСТ С" is the name of the printing company. "August 2nd" is a reference to the Ilinden Uprising in Northern Macedonia on Aug. 2 1903. It has caused confusion in the past because it was interpreted as a print date and / or a print number.
